Webroot concentrateson security and identity protection and has an online backup module and system cleanup tool. The package includes the multi-award winning Spy Sweeper anti-spyware tool and offers secure remote access to your documents and passwords from other PC's and smartphones.
There's a clean straightforward interface with four icons on the main menu giving you access to the key areas. These have colour-coded indicators so you can easily see which areas of the system need attention. The program can automatically generate secure passwords and and store your login in an encrypted vault. It provides an online account so that you're able to access these even when you're away from your own PC. Installation was quite speedy and Webroothad particularly impressive scanning performance. It's easy to use too - go into the firewall for example and there are radio buttons so that you can filter, allow and block traffic.
The backup module comes with 10GB of online storage, and again you can access this from elsewhere.
Webroot has the lowest system requirements of any package here, needing only a 300MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM. This light footprint is evident in its impact on the day-to-day running of the machine and in its scan times. It's the cheapest package and represents decent value for money even though it offers fewer features. If youdon't need the parental controls or a gaming mode, Webroot performs the essential security tasks very well.
